Muchos gracias to the good people at Parent Hacks for bringing this tasty viddle to my attention– Potato chips you make in your microwave.
Originally posted at Fat Free Vegan, all you need is a microwave, a spud, some parchment paper, and 5 minutes of willpower and you are well on your way to a delicious and potentially radioactive treat.
For those of a healthier or low-carb mindset, I’m also happy to report that this trick will apparently work just as well with sweet potatoes. This leads me to suspect that other lovely and flavorful starchy vegetables (beets, parsnips, etc) are probably good candidates for this procedure.
Microwave Potato Chips
1 russet potato, scrubbed
Salt or other seasonings (optional)
Thinly slice the potato (work in batches, as you’ll cook them separately).
Arrange slices on a piece of parchment paper that will fit inside the glass tray of your microwave.
Season (if you like), then cook till golden brown. For my oven that’s 3 minutes on high power followed by 2 minutes at 50% power, but yours will most certainly vary. Watch closely as your lovely chips will burn if they cook even 10 seconds too long.
Let cool for a moment (the longest moment of your life), then shovel all the chips into your mouth. All except for one, which you may share with your child. If you have more than one child, break that one into equal pieces.
Because I like my medieval politics bawdy.
Can never get enough of these guys. Never ever ever.
